Overview

The Mountainlair Student Union Night Operations Supervisor oversees the evening and weekend operations of the Mountainlair Student Union, including the supervision of all on-shift personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and execute the daily operations of the Mountainlair Student Union (220,000+ sq. feet), including the supervision of all on-shift personnel. 
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support for meetings, events, and users of the Mountainlair. 
  • Prepare venues for events, including unlocking doors and ensuring rooms are set according to standard and custom diagrams. 
  • Collaborate and assist with onsite supervision of other program areas within the facility (Games Area, Information Desk, Reservations, etc.). 
  • Enforce and execute all policies and procedures set forth by the Department 
  • Ensure user safety by monitoring event spaces and collaborating with Facilities Management, University Police, and other departments. 
  • Appropriately respond to and handle emergency situations while following emergency protocols. 
  • Complete reports and documentation in accordance with University and Department policies. 
  • Assist in operations of WVU's Up All Night programming including: supervising swipe access, monitoring users, and collaborating with campus partners.

Scheduled Hours

Those selected for this position will be assigned shifts during the following times:

  • Monday-Thursday: 4:00 pm - 11:15 pm 
  • Friday: 4:00 pm - 2:30 am 
  • Saturday: 7:30 am - 2:30 am 
  • Sunday: 7:30 am - 11:15 pm

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) full semester as a Night Operations Assistant (required) 
  • Ability to lead and supervise peers (required) 
  • Well understanding of building operations and Mountainlair program areas (Games Area, Information Desk, Reservations, etc.) 
  • Currently enrolled WVU student in good academic standing (overall GPA of 2.0 or above) (required) 
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment (required) 
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends and evenings (required) 
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills (required) 
  • Ability to handle emergency situations efficiently (required) 
  • Previous Customer Service Experience (preferred)
